Senegal 2007

It will be held with the support of the Ministry of Trade, Consumer Affairs and Handicrafts. The course will focus on the links between trade, investment, finance and development, including in the context of international trade negotiations.
Its aim is to:
• Enhance the understanding of the relationship among these areas and their link to countries’ development strategies; and
• Provide participants with knowledge and skills for the design and implementation of trade and development policies, as well as for trade negotiations corresponding to the needs and interests of their countries.
The syllabus of the course will draw upon UNCTAD’s perspective, its analytical work and the lessons learnt from its technical cooperation activities, and will be enriched by the competence and expertise of the Economic Commission for Africa, as well as regional and national experts, in these areas of work. The course is mainly aimed at mid-level government officers in ministries and institutions dealing with trade, investment, finance and development issues, who are involved in the formulation and implementation of national trade and development policies. Academics from research institutions and universities working on international economic issues are also encouraged to apply.
Serbia 2006

The UNCTAD secretariat is now organizing a second regional training course for Eastern Europe and CIS countries on Key Issues on the International Economic Agenda, which will be held in collaboration with the Ministry of International Economic Relations in Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro. The course will focus on the links between trade, investment and development, especially in the context of the current multilateral trade negotiations, in order to
•Enhance the capacity of officials and other individuals from Eastern Europe and CIS countries to identify issues, and the approaches adopted in their treatment, in the current trade negotiations, in particular those with development dimensions within UNCTAD’s field of competence;
•Increase awareness of the various policy and other conditions necessary for attaining competitiveness and participating effectively in the current global economic environment;
The syllabus of the course draws on UNCTAD's perspectives and expertise and aims to enhance an understanding of UNCTAD's analytical work, as well as the lessons drawn from UNCTAD's technical cooperation activities. The content and the approaches of the course will also draw on the competence and expertise of United Nations Economic Commission for Europe and other regional experts.

The UNCTAD secretariat is pleased to announce that the next regional course on Key Issues on the International Economic Agenda for countries with economies in transition will be hosted by the University of Belgrade, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign and Internal Trade and Telecommunications, Serbia, and will take place from 9 to 27 July 2012. The course will focus on the links between trade, investment, finance and development, including in the context of international trade negotiations. Its aims are as follows:
•To enhance understanding of the relationship between these areas and their link to country development strategies;
•To provide participants with knowledge and skills that will prepare them for trade negotiations, as well as to design and implement trade and development policies. These tools are designed to meet the needs and interests of their countries.

Experts from North Macedonia will share national experiences in promoting and managing trade, investment, finance and development, among other topics.

Serbia experts will also share the country’s experience in promoting and managing trade, investment, finance and development.
