UNESCAP-UNCTAD's Global Course on Negotiating Regional Trade Agreements for Trade in Times of Crisis and Pandemic

The objective of this course is to enhance the capacity of the participants to better understand and design legal provisions of regional trade agreements (RTAs) – particularly those that can help ensure better preparedness and greater resilience in response to future crises. The course will elaborate on: (1) why we need to improve RTAs and what gaps exist in the existing RTAs in guiding the conduct of national trade policy in times of crisis; (2) how we can design better RTA provisions that are well adapted to the future crisis situations. This course will provide a range of options of provisions that can be used in future RTAs.
