E-course on collecting NTM-related regulations
The collection of regulations introducing NTMs is part of an effort to identify and classify all official measures currently imposed by a country and affecting imported or exported products.
As a rule of thumb, such measures would be checked at customs points to allow entry or exit of specific products.
Regulations introducing “behind the border” sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) measures and
technical barriers to trade (TBTs) measures, that are imposed for non-primarily trade-related,
objectives (ex. protection of human and plant health) are also collected. Even if equally
impacting domestic producers, such regulations nevertheless regulate international trade and
are thus considered as introducing NTMs.
